You resisted yourself
On the reckless way to adulthood.
You were upside-down when we met
Your hair was all around you, a diffuse nebula.
You needed to cut your hair shorter and shorter
As we held hands, hapless, barely able to breathe.
Wounded and vulnerable, we orbited each other, briefly
Burned and embossed in strange metal.
Maybe we were the inverse of something identical
Perhaps wired the same way to give different results
Like your resistance was parallel to mine and calculated
To give us a third thing, an invention.
Our current lives still resonate with harmonics from
Light years distant, sending precious messages
Without grieving
We the discoverers.
