Soldering Station 4

-1-
Over and over the same blind connection
Cloth-covered wire
Bright solder winks and is a fixed hemisphere
A missing wire
Far and away a station forgot a wire
A yellow one
It’s as if I’m seeing the board for the first time
TP14
The copper wire I am supposed to connect
It is not there
I am stopped
Like the dog whose master
Hides the ball behind his back

-2-
What is it that
Wants to be alone
Among eight billion souls
We are not capable of counting
We were not designed to count
Nothing we were designed to count
Exists anymore
We don’t count
We are the nothing
Already connected
In a small loop of infinity

-3-
Tin, Silver, Copper
The three components of solder
Someone invented
To replace lead and tin that
Melted and froze at the same point
Worked just right for connecting
Copper wire to a metal eye
We breathed sweet fumes
Apportioned, correct and content
In our poisoned billions

-4-
You imputed yourself through god
The infant knew Mother wasn’t god
You had to demand to be fed, to be comforted
Learned to do for yourself those
Godlike things that incited a pontiff
Who held your hand and your mind as
A connection to your evolving explanation.
Your own god will live exactly as
Long as you might live, and then wink
Out of existence, not surviving anything anywhere.
