Things of a technical nature which I find interesting.  Around the year 1940, or thereabouts, the electricity available at the typical wall outlet was about 110 Volts AC.  Today, the same outlet delivers closer to 130 Volts.  This has caused more problems for appliances than you can possibly imagine.
