“Tell me a robot story”
The sand leaked into the tent
Wind oscillated, occasionally
Thumping canvas like surf far away
I worry the sand will find my gears
“Competent, but uncomprehending”
Animalcules that evolved a simple mind
To build buzzing electric shelters
They ate food designed from the bottom
Not really food at all
“They evolved from water”
They could be killed by water
Compiled too far from the beach
We camp here regardless of the grit
The stakes just barely hold
“It held the door for its companion”
They went into a room we cannot see
It was not a mechanical room like ours
Perhaps it was painted the color of cars
And stripes like a spreadsheet.
