Scant days she is gone
I call out my pet name for her
When I enter the house
Perhaps to remind me
Or to have someone to talk to
Someone washed the sheets
And put a new blanket on her bed
The dog will not sleep there, now
She doesn’t sleep with me, either
She sleeps, lost, on the floor in various places
She turns around and around and can’t settle
