The Peter Principle for the End of Life of Stars

Main sequence stars will burn iron and then die
Because their Nova death is, um, ordinary
It’s the best they can do.

The Giant stars have a Magic Death and
Create heavy metals, all of them
By that I mean all the Giants and all the heavy metals

The impact of a death on the rest of the universe:

Will make more carbon and iron and lesser masses
The mortar of the current stuff we live
-or-
Will create gold and iridium and titanium
Irradiating a sphere the size of a galaxy

Once again we see our dual heroes in the stars
Performing heroic impossibilities
Or making yet another asterism of fish and telescopes.
